About

Into elegant style? Good. That’s what I do.

Finding Femme is a personal style diary that logs my adventures chasing beautiful light, affordable fashion, and elegant bikes while showing people from all over the world what it’s like to live as a local in Ballarat, Australia and the Goldfields Region. Scroll down for more about me.

This blog is a body-positive space because I believe that elegance is an attitude that’s reflected in what you choose to value and adore in the world around you. I adore strong and complex women. I adore the diverse cultural identity in the cities around me. I adore clothes that are stylish for many seasons.

If you love vintage-inspired style, bicycles with baskets and wandering through small regional cities, you’ll be right at home here!

Does this sound like you?

You’ll also find other women and bloggers sharing their own perspectives in blog comments, building each other up and learning from each other’s knowledge. There are not just loads of beautiful pictures for Pinning on this blog. I also write about my own experiences, funny memories, local events and things I’ve learned personally or from women I admire. There’s often a bit about the places I’m exploring if you’re getting inspired for micro-adventures.

So who am I?

My name is Liana and I live in the regional city of Ballarat in Australia. My pronouns are she/her. If you know me you probably know my sister Goldfields Girl as well, and if you don’t, she’s worth knowing. My sister and I co-founded the Ballarat Tweed Ride, an iconic annual Ballarat event that I have been running since 2012.

I am an actor and studied acting at 16th Street Actors Studio. I am also a writer and have completed a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing as well as majors in both literature studies and history as part of a Bachelor of Arts. I gained my 1st dan black with Zenshin Karate in 2008 and was on the 2 time NAS national champion martial arts demonstration team. I am the patron saint of cutting my own fringe with kitchen scissors, my phone battery level would give you anxiety and I hydrate almost solely through drinking tea.

The five things you would use in a summoning circle to call on my ghost would be a packet of caramel-coated digestives biscuits, a Canon 60D camera with no SD card, a bottle of Westwinds Broadside gin, a fringed leather jacket, and a pair of nunchucks or roller-skates. The chalk circle would also have to be drawn in rock climbers’ chalk and the summoner would have to be wearing a perfume by Lubin. Realistically, you could summon me living or dead just by wearing Lubin, nothing else required.

I am not only an actor but a Director. I directed and co-created the Pride and Prejudice Podcast, which went on to become a Webby Aware Honouree in the 25th Annual Webby Awards, alongside major international studios such as HBO, BBC and Comedy Centre.

I volunteer in my community have been on the board for both Spark Theatre and Ballarat National Theatre, the latter of which I have been both the marketing manager and the president for.
